Description
This is one of my paintings for the Monhegan Island series.
In one perfect day, my husband and I followed the trail around Monhegan Island, past Deadmans Cove and Pebble Beach out to the far place of Pulpit Rock. At places the trail is strenuous . It is about a two hour hike if you stop and enjoy the scenery and maybe sit and rest and watch for whales. Pulpit Rock is down below and to see it well one must go down toward the precipice where you can hear the sound of the waves coming against the rocks. It is not possible to stand on Pulpit Rock unless you are a bird. But one can sit and watch the seagulls and enjoy to see them flying about in front of the horizon of the Atlantic ocean. Maybe if you are patient you can see a whale or school of porpoises jumping over the waives. I try to bring back perfect moments like this and hope you enjoy it.
