Description
This is one of my Monhegan Island, Maine painting series.
The boat arrives on schedule and it is the time when people arrive and also depart. Arriving people go on their way for adventure, while those departing wait to board and say good-bye to their island friends. They will bring all the sweet memories back to their home. And finally there is a sad time when the boat moves away and they throw the flowers into the water, hoping to return soon.
As for Monhegan Farewell painting, the scene is common, but heart beat of island life is arrival of the boats.
I hope this series of paintings will inspire you to visit Monhegan and discover its endless beauty.
